Bennelong Foundation is currently funding Cool Burning Education Project by Cool Australia. Cool Australia supports 118,000 educators with free, high-quality lesson plans, teaching tools and professional development courses. Their resources embed environmental, social and economic sustainability into core subject areas, such as English, Science, Art and Maths.
This project will look into updating, extending and disseminating lesson plans and professional development courses for Australian educators on the environmental, social and economic impact of traditional Indigenous burning practices. Addressing core curriculum outcomes, including literacy, these lessons will help students increase their knowledge of Indigenous history and perspectives while understanding fire mitigation strategies.
