Bennelong Foundation is funding the Sustaining Aboriginal Health through Nutrition Garden project by Gunawirra. Gunawirra’s purpose is to promote optimal development for Aboriginal children aged 0-5 years and to build the capacity of their parents towards healing, resilience and self-reliance. Our early intervention and collaborative programs seek to break the trans-generational cycle of trauma caused by loss of culture, family, community and country.
This project is aimed to develop a community garden to enhance the nutritional education of the mothers. The tangible experience will enhance family bonding and the Aboriginal ‘bush tucker’ will enhance cultural pride. We will consolidate the lessons through a ‘yarning circle’ and share the results of this permaculture through video recording
